Marv Albert, ASA Advisory Board Member, Mike Fratello, and Steve Kerr will be TNT’s No. 1 NBA announcing team for the upcoming season. Kevin Harlan, ASA member, and Doug Collins will also team up to call the action for Turner. Collins replaces John Thompson who will only do a handful of games while concentrating on interviews and features. Bob Wolff, Hall of Fame sportscaster and voice of the Washington Senators for 14 years, was honored recently at a Congressional Reception at the Rayburn House Office Building to celebrate the annual Congressional baseball game. Dick Vitale, ASA member and ESPN college basketball analyst, was the recipient of two prestigious awards: the first-ever Ethics and Sportsmanship in Sports Media Award, for his work to promote sportsmanship; and the National Pathfinder Award, for his contributions to America’s youth. Bob Uecker ASA Lifetime Member and the 2003 inductee into the broadcasters’ wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame, had both knees replaces in an operation in Milwaukee. Dick Stockton, who hasn’t called TV baseball since 1995, will temporarily replace Joe Buck on Fox’s Saturday baseball telecasts. Buck, ASA Lifetime member, will return for the postseason. Jim Lampley, ASA member, will host NBC’s daytime coverage of the 2004 Summer Olympics from Athens. Pat O’Brien will host the morning show on NBC’s sister network, Bravo. With this assignment, Lampley will tie ASA Hall of Famer Jim McKay’s record of 12 Olympics covered. Lee Corso, ASA member, Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit opened their 10th season of ESPN’s “College GameDay” on August 30 live from the Washington-Ohio State game. Craig James, former ESPN college football analyst and studio analyst for CBS’ “The NFL Today,” has returned to ESPN as a game analyst. Brian Bosworth, former college football star at Oklahoma, will team with Ernie Johnson, Jr. in the TBS studio for Big 12 and Pacific-10 games. Rich Eisen, former ESPN anchor, will host a nightly 1-hour show on the new NFL Network which will launch on September 7 in 11 million DirecTV homes. Chris Myers signed a two-year contract to continue as host of Fox and FX NASCAR races. Melissa Stark, former sideline reporter for ABC’s “Monday Night Football,” has joined NBC’s “Today Show” as a national correspondent. Mike Vaccaro, ASA member, is starting his 6th year as Director of Broadcasting at Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. Vaccaro handles all play-by-play for “Fighting Camel” teams and hosts TV shows for men’s and women’s basketball. John Leahy,

He will be replacing Bill Parcells who left broadcasting to coach the Dallas Cowboys. Chick Hearn, ASA Hall of Famer and legendary voice of the Los Angeles Lakers who broadcast 3,338 consecutive Lakers games, has been selected for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Jon Miller, ASA Board member and the play-by-play man for ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" and the San Francisco Giants, is entering his 30th season in a baseball broadcast booth. Joe Theismann, former Washington redskins quarterback and current ESPN NFL analyst, has been selected for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.
